We are so proud to put four extraordinary local women in front of you. Virginia’s List is endorsing each of these candidates.

Our latest slate includes a powerful mix of first-time candidates and local champions stepping up to fight back against MAGA extremism and right-wing attacks on our rights. These are the women who will push back on the hate and the policies hurting our families, and who will speak up for common-sense solutions that work for all Virginians.

If you live in their area, your vote matters most. Please make a plan to vote for them. And wherever you are across the Commonwealth, you can help by giving to their campaigns in these final days.

Meron Yohannes | Herndon Town Council

Born and raised in Herndon, Meron is running to shape the town that shaped her. As Vice Chair of the Planning Commission, she championed smart growth and small businesses, and she advanced the Transit-Related Growth Area plan around the Herndon Metro station. She is ready to move from appointed advisor to elected decision-maker.

Christina Brady | Chesterfield County School Board

A proud Varina High graduate and Chesterfield parent, Christina is an experienced technology and operations leader who will bring steady, practical leadership to the School Board. She listens, asks tough questions, and is committed to students, teachers, and families. She’s running to make sure every Chesterfield child gets a strong public education.

Yasmin Shafiq | Herndon Town Council

Growing up, Yasmin learned to leave a place better than she found it, and service remains her North Star. She has served her congregation, community center, university, locality, and union, and she was key in negotiating Fairfax County’s first-ever contract for general government employees. Yasmin will bring that same commitment to Herndon.

Santiera Brown-Yearling | Chesapeake City Council

A registered respiratory therapist and community leader, Santiera has spent her career caring for people beyond the walls of the hospital. She serves on the Chesapeake Commission on Health and Well-Being and previously was appointed to the Virginia Advisory Board on Respiratory Care. She’s running to strengthen neighborhoods, advance economic stability, and make sure progress is measured by lives improved.

How You Can Help

Make a plan to vote. Early voting runs through November 1. Election Day is November 3. Not only are our candidates on the ballot, but the abortion amendment will protect Virginians’ right to make healthcare decisions that are right for them.

Spread the word. Share this page, especially with folks in Chesapeake, Herndon, and Chesterfield. Make sure people know these candidates are on the ballot, and encourage friends and family to support them.

Give to Virginia’s List. Every dollar you give to Virginia’s List helps us invest in more candidates like these five. Your dollars go straight to candidates, helping them meet critical needs in these final days of the election cycle, when getting their message out matters most.

Your support has already helped build this momentum. We couldn’t have endorsed and invested in these campaigns without you. But the next few days are critical. Every dollar helps us support candidates and protect our shared values.
