Alexandria, VA – Following a historic election that saw Virginians elect Abigail Spanberger as the Commonwealth’s first woman governor and Ghazala Hashmi as the first Muslim woman to hold statewide office, Virginia’s List is proud to announce its endorsement of Delegate Debra Gardner in the special election for Senate District 15.
Delegate Gardner is exactly the kind of leader Virginians need in the closely divided Senate. She has served Chesterfield with integrity and compassion and been a steadfast champion for working families, public education, and reproductive freedom. Her experience, her empathy, and her deep roots in the community make her the clear choice to continue moving Virginia forward.
A resident of Chesterfield County for over 30 years, Gardner has earned a reputation as a tireless advocate for Virginians in need. Before serving in the House of Delegates, she held senior roles in three state agencies and worked closely with community organizations providing essential services. In the General Assembly, she has fought for fair wages, affordable health care, and survivors of abuse, always centering the needs of working families.
“Barely a year into Donald Trump’s second term, Virginians are already feeling the consequences of his reckless brand of leadership from job losses to shuttered clinics,” said Lateisha Garrett, Chair of Virginia’s List. “Virginia Republicans have bowed to his every whim, and now they’re desperate to hold this seat. That’s why Virginia’s List stands firmly with Debra Gardner. She’s the leader Virginians can count on.”
Virginia’s List remains dedicated to electing pro-choice Democratic women up and down the ballot. This endorsement marks the organization’s first action following the 2025 election, as it continues to build on its mission of strengthening women’s political leadership across the Commonwealth.
