Virginia’s List Announces Latest Endorsements, Including First-Ever Local Race

Alexandria, VA – Virginia’s List, the leading organization dedicated to electing pro-choice Democratic women in Virginia, is proud to announce its latest round of endorsements for the 2025 elections. This slate includes Elizabeth Guzman (HD-22), Lindsey Dougherty (HD-75), and Shannon Jones for Newport News Commonwealth’s Attorney, marking a historic milestone as the organization’s first-ever local endorsement.

“As extremists continue their relentless attacks on reproductive rights, we need bold, pro-choice Democratic women at every level of government,” said Teisha Garrett, Chair of Virginia’s List. “Elizabeth Guzman, Lindsey Dougherty, and Shannon Jones are fierce advocates for justice, equity, and reproductive freedom. Their leadership will be critical in protecting Virginians’ rights and ensuring a brighter future for our Commonwealth.”

Meet the Endorsed Candidates

Elizabeth Guzman (HD-22) – A former Delegate and longtime champion for working families, education, and reproductive rights, Elizabeth is committed to a fairer, more inclusive Virginia. In 2017, she flipped a red-to-blue seat and aims to do it again in District 22. She championed landmark laws like paid sick leave and public sector collective bargaining. Virginia’s List endorsed Elizabeth in past races and  proudly backs her return to the House of Delegates. https://www.guzmanforvirginia.com/

Lindsey Dougherty (HD-75) – A dedicated public servant and former Virginia’s List-endorsed candidate, Lindsey brings a bold vision of equity, opportunity, and justice to this campaign. A former House candidate (2019), she now fights for working families with renewed commitment. As a Senior Research Administrator at VCU, she understands the impact of federal research cuts on jobs and families. She’s ready to bring fresh, effective leadership to the House of Delegates. https://www.doughertyfordelegate.com/

Shannon Jones (Newport News Commonwealth’s Attorney) – In Virginia’s List’s first-ever local endorsement, Shannon aims to bring fairness, accountability, and equity to Newport News. As an experienced legal professional and justice advocate, she prioritizes community trust, youth investment, and rehabilitation over punitive policies that harm marginalized communities.  https://www.votesj.com/

With the future of reproductive rights and democracy at stake, Virginia’s List is laser-focused on electing leaders who will fight back against MAGA extremism and champion the issues that matter most to Virginians.

“From the House of Delegates to the local courthouse, every election matters. We are proud to stand with these outstanding candidates and ensure they have the support they need to win,” Garrett added.

This marks Virginia’s List’s second slate of endorsements for the 2025 election cycle as we build the momentum needed to win in November. As we continue our mission to elect pro-choice Democratic women at every level, we will be announcing additional endorsements for candidates who are ready to fight for reproductive freedom, justice, and equality across the Commonwealth.
