Virginia's Announces its First Slate of 2025 Endorsements

Virginia’s List Announces Additional Endorsements for 2025 Elections

Alexandria, VA – Following this morning’s endorsement of Abigail Spanberger for Governor, Virginia’s List is proud to announce additional endorsements for the 2025 elections—backing a diverse and dynamic group of pro-choice Democratic women who are ready to take on Republican extremism and fight for Virginia’s future.

“At this critical moment, we need leaders who will defend reproductive rights, economic stability, and democracy,” said Lateisha Garrett, Chair of Virginia’s List. “Abigail Spanberger is leading the charge at the top of the ticket, and she’ll be joined by a powerhouse team of women who are stepping up to protect our communities and push Virginia forward.”

For Statewide Office:

🔹 Ghazala Hashmi for Lieutenant Governor – A history-making state senator and champion for abortion rights, gun safety, and economic fairness, Hashmi is ready to bring her leadership to the second-highest office in Virginia.

🔹 Shannon Taylor for Attorney General – As Henrico County’s top prosecutor, Taylor has fought for criminal justice reform, reproductive freedom, and public safety. As Attorney General, she’ll ensure Virginia’s legal system works for the people—not the far right.

For the House of Delegates:

🔹 Jessica Anderson (HD 71) – A longtime advocate for working families, Anderson will fight for fair wages, strong public schools, and reproductive freedom in Richmond.

🔹 Kimberly Pope Adams (HD 82) – An accountant and government auditor, Pope Adams came within just 53 votes of flipping this seat in 2023. She’s running again to finish the job to fight for economic fairness and reproductive rights.

🔹 May Nivar (HD 57) – A business leader and community organizer, Nivar is focused on affordable healthcare, education, and expanding economic opportunity for all Virginians.

🔹 Lily Franklin (HD 41) – A powerhouse organizer and advocate for Southwest Virginia, Franklin is back after a razor-thin loss in 2023. She’s mobilizing her community to flip this seat and fight for reproductive rights.

🚨 Why This Matters 🚨

Each of these seats is currently held by anti-abortion rights Republicans—none of whom have supported the constitutional amendment to protect reproductive rights. Flipping these seats will build a permanent firewall against abortion bans and ensure Virginia remains the stronghold for reproductive freedom in the South.

Virginia Republicans have remained silent—or worse, complicit as 145,000 Virginians in the federal workforce are at risk of losing their jobs due to Trump’s instability and attacks on government workers. And hundreds of thousands of Virginians could lose health insurance under Trump’s federal budget proposal.

Virginia Sends a Message to the Nation

The 2025 elections in Virginia will be the first major electoral test of Trump’s second term—and the first chance for voters to reject his extremist agenda. With nearly seven million Virginians heading to the polls, this is our opportunity for a nationwide rebuke of Trump’s dangerous policies and Republican complicity.

“Led by this slate of incredible candidates, Virginians will send a clear message: We will not stand by while Trump and his MAGA allies attack our workers, our economy, our rights, and our values. We will fight back—and we will win.” Lateisha Garrett, Chair of Virginia’s List.

Virginia’s List will continue to endorse and support pro-choice Democratic women in key races throughout the election year.
