Susan Swecker Steps Down as DPVA Chair

Richmond, Virginia – “Virginia(ns) owe a debt of gratitude to Susan Swecker for her exemplary dedication as Chair of the Democratic Party of Virginia. We offer our sincerest gratitude for the leadership Chairwoman Swecker has shown in the decade she served as chair. Her ability to prioritize Democratic values while navigating the tumultuous political climate will continue to serve the Party for years. 

We know that Chairwoman Swecker’s successor will have big shoes to fill. We are confident that the DPVA will follow a clear and transparent process to select the new Chairperson. Virginia is fortunate to have a deep reservoir of talented and diverse candidates from across the state. We look forward to hearing the vision these candidates have for electing Democrats ready to fight to preserve our rights and freedoms as they come under constant attack from Donald Trump and his MAGA allies.
